Scouting America has refused to adhere to recent transphobic policy statements by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and will continue to create a space for trans youth inall programs.
While Hegseth stated on social media that Scouting America would “modify its policy to make clear that membership will be based solely on biological sex at birth and not gender identity,” Roger Krone, President and CEO of Scouting America reaffirmed that “We have Transgender people in our program, and we’ll have Transgender people in our program going forward.”
As organizations across the United States look to ban trans youth from participation, it is exceptionally wonderful to see inclusion at this level. Both Scouts and Guides in Canada also welcome transgender youth to their programs.
