Learn about body image difficulty for some in the trans community...

Hey everyone, be aware that I’m talking about something sensitive this morning, but once again something that impacts transgender people disproportionately.

A study completed by Harvard University-affiliated researchers found that transgender and gender diverse (TGD) people experience a high prevalence of disordered eating, discovering that almost 1 in 5 transgender youth received an eating disorder diagnosis in the previous year.

They also saw risk factors and treatment barriers associated with their gender identity and experiences of gender dysphoria like trans and gender diverse people who may desire to alter gendered physical traits to better align their body with their gender identity.

The study called for better learning from medical professionals as well as the development of inclusive, gender affirming treatment resources for trans and gender diverse people and also eating disorder programs that address their unique experiences.
